Topacio) Writer: Phil Noble (story) Stars: Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Gina Pareño | See full cast and crew » D' Kilabots Pogi Brothers Weh?! is a 2012 Filipino romantic comedy film directed by Soxy Topacio.[2] The film stars Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Solenn Heussaff, Pokwang, Paolo Ballesteros and Gina Pareno. It was made after Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola hit it big with a sold-out concert. Two brothers become rivals in the affections of the same woman. Their rivalry tears them apart, and causes one of them to be heartbroken. But the two are forced to reunite in order to protect their family from a greedy businessman. Philbert Ortiz Dy of ClickTheCity.com rated the film 1.5 out of 5.[3] He stated, "The end credits of D'Kilabots Pogi Brothers, Weh? share space with little vignettes of the two lead actors thanking the various guest stars of the movie for showing up. Many of these stars end up making the same joke: that they aren’t getting paid. These vignettes sum up the problem with the movie as a whole. For one thing, much of the movie seems to have been designed around these cameo appearance. And secondly, the movie has a tendency to repeat its humor. These problems are compounded by an odd production that can’t seem to decide what the name of one of the characters is." The main characters are derived from name of artists, singer, song, politicians, businessmen and toys This is also second movie of Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola under APT Entertainment and M-Zet TV Production Inc. after the success of their first movie Scaregiver(2008) features all Actors and Actresses from 3 networks: GMA Network, ABS-CBN and TV5

Raketeros

                           Raketeros

Raketeros a 2013 pinoy movie starring Mayor Herbert Bautista is now available online. Raketeros is a comedy movie conceived by popular comedians in the 1990 era. It is not a very good movie in terms of the story because it is just a collection of sketches featuring the cast delivering punchlines and funny scenes. The first part of this movie deals with the adventures of the casts on their way to a reunion.  Raketeros Film Reviews: 2.0 Philbert Dy (Click the CIty) “Though the production is solid and the talent is still clearly there, the film largely drops the narrative in favor of providing each of these actors their individual moments in the sun.”  1.5 Zig Marasigan (Kristn) “The film is stitched together by what appears to be an endless parade of comedy sketches, each one stretched thin like a bland slab of dough. Celebrity cameos are forced into relevance, and punchlines are milked from a bleeding teat. The result is a comedy that is both lifeless and unfunny.

Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles

               Tiktik: The Aswang                       Chronicles

Makoy travels from Manila to the province of Pulupandan to visit and bring back his girlfriend, Sonia, who is pregnant with their child. When Fely, Sonia's mother, always ruin Makoy's attempts to see or go near her, Sonia's father, Nestor, and their helper, Bart, befriends Makoy. When Makoy and Nestor prepare things for Sonia's birthday, Bart requests them to buy and cook a pig from his cousin Ringo, for surely they will have a discount. Makoy and Nestor go to the marketplace, where they are stunned by Ringo's kids. Ringo appears and apologizes, but can't offer a discount after an exchange of words. When Ringo leaves, Kulot, one of Ringo's sons (who knows Sonia is pregnant), sells Makoy and Nestor a young pig for a cheap price. Nestor hesitates, but Makoy agrees and buys it. Returning home, Nestor tells Fely that Makoy should spend the night in their home, which Fely and Sonia disagree. After dinner, when everybody's asleep, Makoy and Nestor hear strange and familiar noises from the forest. Reminded of the aswang tales he heard before, Nestor tells Makoy to secure the house. The pig they bought from the market transforms into Kulot and then transforms into an aswang, who quietly enters Sonia's room to get the baby inside her womb. Makoy and Nestor are alarmed when they hear Sonia's panicked shouting. Nestor enters the room, and Makoy grabs a huge furniture fork to stab and kill Kulot. Bart, shocked to see his nephew to be an aswang, is aggressively attacked by Makoy, who mistakes him as an aswang on his family. In the forest, Ringo's kids: Hilda, Kulas, Mutya, and Cedric wait for Kulot's return with the baby. But as they wait impatiently, Ringo appears and tells them he is tired of hiding from one province to another because of them exposing themselves as aswangs. Ringo appears infront of the house, accompanied by his kids, and asks Makoy and Nestor where Kulot is. Seeing the lifeless body of his own son, the whole family angrily transform into tiktiks. Makoy then takes Bart hostage, and asks him to choose a side. Ringo and his family give chase as Makoy and Bart ride a jeepney into the forest. As the chase is happening, Ringo's family proved to be more powerful and agile but still cannot catch up to the fast-moving jeepney. Makoy and Bart stops at a security checkpoint. Makoy tells the captain, Regalado, that people are chasing them. Regalado orders his men to check but can't find anything. Ringo and his family appears, now back in normal form, claiming that Makoy took Bart hostage. As Regalado's men point their guns at Makoy, Ringo and his family start to attack them. Ringo kills Regalado and his men as soon as Makoy and Bart find a truck with a gun inside. Starting the engine, a chase again ensues. As the truck speed its way through the forest, Kulas tries to block them but is killed when the truck rams him in a tree, and explodes. Returning to the house, Nestor has already prepared molotovs and throws it into Ringo, slowing them down. Makoy and Bart safely enters the house again. The humans barricade themselves in the house, putting salt and garlic in every corner, windows, and doors. Soon after, Rex and his son, Abel, invited visitors to Sonia's birthday, arrives. Nestor tells them to get inside, but Rex is killed by Ringo, and Makoy only manages to save Abel. Ringo sends Hilda and Cedric to search for openings outside the house and with luck, they find a window unbarricaded. Meanwhile, Sonia is in her labor and only hours to spare her child. Hilda and Cedric enter the house and attacks Sonia. Fely attacks Cedric but is killed. Nestor, enraged, kills Cedric by slitting his throat. Fely tells Nestor her final words and advises him to not allow Makoy marry their daughter. Meanwhile, Hilda attacks Sonia but is killed by Makoy after. Bart now shows signs of transformation, and Makoy proves them he is right all along, Bart is an aswang. But Bart defends that he was bitten by Hilda in the woods on the way to the checkpoint. Sonia is about to deliver her baby when a horde of people, lead by Ringo's father, Tatang, arrives. Ringo apologizes to his father for his kids' deaths but Tatang kills him too. Now Ringo is dead, Tatang leads the army. He releases a bird from his mouth and transforms all of his army into Tiktiks. Bart chooses to stay behind in order to buy time for Makoy, Sonia, Abel, and Nestor to escape. The Tiktiks start the assault in the house. Bart manages to kill some of them using molotovs but when he is overwhelmed, decides to blow up the house instead, incinerating himself and most of the Tiktiks. Makoy enters a sari-sari store and confronts the store owner, Pacing. Pacing tells them she has a business with salt farming which can aid them on their final fight. Makoy helps Sonia deliver the baby while Nestor crafts the weapons they will use. Sonia is sucessful on delivering the baby, but the cry of the baby attracts Tatang who is searching the house. Nestor and Makoy decide to stay and fight them, while Sonia, Pacing, and Abel escape. But Abel, wanting to avenge his father's death, joins Makoy and Nestor. Tatang orders the Tiktiks to attack. After a long brutal fight, Makoy and Nestor narrowly defeat the Tiktiks using a whip, a pesticide with salt, and garlic. Tatang then transforms into a demonic winged creature and grabs the baby. But Sonia throws salt in the air which wounds the demon helping Makoy deliver his final whip onto the creature and kills it. Makoy and the rest of the surviving people rest and celebrate as the dawn has begun.

Tarot: Movie

                             Tarot: Movie

No matter how bad the reviews of "Tarot", we are pretty sure that it will still rake in thousands because it stars today’s biggest celebrity (arguably), Marian Rivera. We were actually not surprised that there was a pretty decent number of viewers in the theater with us despite getting the feel that this movie is not going to be that good. Regal Films is pretty known for horror movies particularly through its "Shake, Rattle and Roll" glory days way back then, but they are not exactly horror masterpieces. Let us see if the movie will be good enough to surprise us.

Kara(Marian Rivera) has the ability to predict things that will happen using her grandmother’s tarot cards. It has been years since she last used her gift but she saw the need to dig up the cards again when her fiancé, Miguel(Dennis Trillo), goes missing in a hiking trip. Her tarot prediction rescues Miguel but then, terrifying things start to happen. One by one, the people around her are put into danger and starts getting killed. Kara now needs to find out what the dark spirit wants and how to put an end to this curse of the Tarot.

In all honesty, we were pleasantly surprised that the movie didn’t turn out as bad as we expected it to be. This could either be because of two things. First is that it is possible that we expected it to really bomb or there are really physical good points for the movie. We believe that it could be more of the latter. The movie had quite a decent story and there were some scenes that made us jump out of our seats (props to the excellent sound effects). However, the story quite reminded us of horror films from Regal Films years ago. They seem to come up with pretty much the same material that there was nothing new to "Tarot", except probably the cast. We couldn’t say anything about Marian Rivera’s acting. She was pretty good and very beautiful on the big screen but at times, her voice can irritatingly hurt your ears. Dennis Trillo is easily replaceable. Although this movie is not so bad over-all, we recommend that you just wait for its TV premier as it may not be worth your money.

Manuel and Marian have been best friends since they were kids. They are so close that they know each other's secrets...well, almost. For the last 16 years, Manuel never had the courage to tell Marian how much he loves her.
On the other hand, Marian sees Manuel as no more than her best friend. Marian's greatest love has always been Lance (Sam), a classmate who protected her from bullies back in grade school. Ever since Lance and his family migrated abroad ten years ago, Marian never had the chance to establish contact with him again. The only thing that Marian knows is that Lance has become the lead singer of the new rock band, Orion.
Good fortune smiles on Marian when Orion decides to tour the Philippines. Marian is intent on seeing Lance again, and she brings Manuel with her on a chase that brings them around the Philippines and abroad. Manuel believes that the whole chase is futile because a popular star like Lance will not remember a simple girl like Marian, but Marian does not believe him.
When Lance and Marian finally meet again, sparks fly between them. Manuel now has to decide - will he let his best friend be happy with her Prince Charming, or will he fight for the love that has kept him alive for the last 16 years?

Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy

                    Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy

In this film, Vice Ganda, an openly gay actor in the Philippines, plays four roles: Girlie (female), Peter (male), Mark ("bakla" or gay) and Panying ("tomboy" or lesbian). These four children were separated at birth. Girlie and Peter lived with their rich dad while Mark and Panying lived with their poor mom. The four accidentally meet as adults. She's Dating the Gangster

She's Dating the Gangster

Kenji Delos Reyes delivers a speech during the wedding of Kirby and Grace. However, Kenneth, Kenji’s son, makes out with a girl in a bathroom stall. The stall opens as the girl’s grandfather enters and chaos then ensues as he chases Kenneth to the reception hall. This causes a scene and a confrontation between Kenji and Kenneth. Kenji then asks Kenneth to be mature and asks him what the problem is, to which the latter says that he doesn’t want to be with him but has no choice. Kenji asks his son what caused him to feel this way, and he answers that he knows about the other Athena. Disappointed, Kenji says that Kenneth has no idea how much he loves him and his mother. The morning after a drinking spree, a hungover Kenneth finds out the plane that would take his father to Bicol has crashed. He rushes to the airport to see the list of survivors. There, he meets Kelay who also wants to see the list. Since the place is crowded, Kelay could not pass through. She then causes a scene so that they would let her see it. She fakes crying and begins shouting that she does not want her father dead. Members of the media approach her and ask what her father’s name is, to which she answers Kenji delos Reyes. Hearing this, Kenneth confronts her and says that he is the only offspring of Kenji. Kenneth then tells the media that he’s the legal son and he can show his birth certificate to prove this. Kelay, on the other hand, has Kenji’s picture. Confirming that the girl on the picture is not his mother, Kenneth is asked by the airline officer for his contact details while Kelay is shunned. Kenneth confronts her to ask who the girl on the picture is, and Kelay bargains that she would tell Kenneth once he agrees to tell her at once when the airline contacts him for information regarding Kenji. However, all the flights to Legazpi are booked. He has no choice but to take the bus but since it's Holy Week, all tickets have been sold. Kenneth sleeps at the bus station, hoping to get a ticket as a chance passenger, yet he oversleeps. Fortunately, Kelay went to the same bus station and bought tickets for the two of them.
On the way to Legazpi, Kelay, Athena’s niece, tells the tale of young Athena and Kenji, a “gangster” whom everyone was afraid of. He is broken hearted over Athena Abigail Tizon. Wanting to get back together with her, he mistakenly sends his messages of despair to Athena Dizon’s pager. Athena, not knowing who the messages are from, agrees to meet up with the sender. On a pool hall, Athena and her friend Sarah are keen on playing pool. Kenji arrives and demands that they transfer to another pool table. Athena fights back but Kenji wins and claims his spot. An angry Athena then watches Kenji being bullied by, yet refusing to fight back to, a rival group of gangsters. They tease him that "B" would not show up. Hearing this, Athena realizes that the messages were sent by Kenji. She watches with pity as Kenji gets mugged. He finds out about his messages for Abi and confronts Athena. To her surprise, he kisses her forcefully and tells her that from then on, she will be his girlfriend as she owes Kenji for causing him to get mugged. Athena has to pretend to be his girlfriend in order to get Abi jealous. At first, Athena refuses and Kenji bullies her. Athena eventually gives in when Kenji attempts to commit suicide by jumping from the school's rooftop if she does not accept. The next day at school, Athena is treated like a princess with Kenji providing her bodyguards. Jealous, some girls at the school start bullying her. Kenji confronts them and says that no one hurts his girlfriend. Their pretend relationship eventually becomes real and the two confess their love for each other. Kenji takes Athena Dizon to Legazpi to see the Mayon Volcano and promises that someday they will get married in that place with the volcano as their witness. When they come back to Manila, however, Kenji begins to absent himself from class. Athena then gets an invite from young Lucas to go see Kenji who is in the hospital. Worried, Athena hurries and finds Abi lying in the hospital bed. Abi has stage three gastric cancer and was the reason why she broke up with Kenji. Wanting Abi to be happy and live longer, Athena breaks up with him. Kenji and Abi get married and Abi gives birth to Kenneth.
While searching for Kenji in Legazpi, Kenneth receives a call from present day Lucas and he helps in looking for Kenji. On their way, Kelay receives a call from her family informing her of Athena’s health condition and that she is dying. Kelay and Kenneth part ways with Kenneth promising that Athena and Kenji would meet once he finds him. Kenneth finds the hospital where Kenji is confined and reads his letter to him. In the letter, Kenji tells him that he was on his way to Legazpi to say goodbye to his memories with Athena and apologizes for making Kenneth feel that way. When Kenji wakes up, the two hug and reconcile. When Kenji is well, Kenneth takes him to Athena’s house. Athena tells Kenji about her disease for the first time and tells him that his love kept her alive through those years. She says she is happy for Kenji and dies in his arms. Kelay wakes up to a phone call telling her that a flight has gone missing again and Kenneth was on that flight. When she goes to look for him she makes a scene again, telling the media her 'boyfriend' is missing. Kenneth witnesses Kelay and it's revealed that it was actually Kenji who called her. Kenneth asks Kelay if they can have a great love story like his dad and Kelay's aunt had and almost kiss as the screen cuts to black.

My Neighbor's Wife

Movie Review: 'My Neighbor's Wife' Another Movie that Will Lead You to the Bedroom After Watching It

It's great that someone in local filmdom has decided to resurrect the "adultery" formula in local movies since I haven't seen any of it for a very long time! I mean how many pa-cute movies of John Lloyd and Sarah Geronimo can you actually stomach!!  Guys, there is life after falling in love - and it's not always pretty!

I actually grew up with movies filled with a lot of cheating husbands and scheming wives - that's why I love Vilma Santos so much - even if I'm a Noranian!  She has so many memorable roles as 'the other woman' - that she has practically patented the 'how to act like a querida' in my memory bank of local movies.  Just watch the classic 'Relasyon' and be blown away by the performance of Miss Vi.  Now, THAT is a feisty woman!

So in a way, it was fun to watch 'My Neighbor's Wife' not only because both Jake Cuenca and Dennis Trillo shed their clothes off here like there was no tomorrow, but also because it was delicious to see four attractive, virile, sexy individuals grappling with their lust as they navigated and strengthened their own marriages. It's a good date movie because couples will surely do the their thing after watching it - what with all those sex scenes!  Just like Friends With Benefits!

I think they could have edited the movie more to make it tighter, maybe 15 minutes less so that the denouement would be more dramatic.  Two hours was too long.  Otherwise, I enjoyed it because after watching Christopher de Leon and Vilma Santos fight so much in many 'adult' movies of my youth - it's refreshing to discover that some of today's actors and actresses are willing to take over their thrones.  And it helps that they're much much yummier!
